Food or Supplements?

These are the most frequent questions I’m asked in my practice.

 

Can I substitute the food for supplements? Or I do not want to worry about getting the right nutrition, rather I would like to take supplements and forget about the healing diet or anything related to diet.
The answer is No and No.

 

 

blog-03In order for your body to receive the optimal nutrition, you MUST eat the healing diet and eat well. Supplements although effective, cannot always substitute the nutrients in food. The very powerful benefits of real raw vegetables, real raw fruits and other nutritionally packed foods simply can’t be substituted by any pill.

 

There are so many phytochemicals, anti-aging and disease fighting properties, and natural protein containing foods like raspberries, blueberries, spinach, lemon, kale, spirulina, flax seeds, chlorella, raw cocoa, mushrooms, onion, garlic and many others. Some really amazing food combinations create power packs for colds and viruses.

 

The natural flu fighters for example are garlic, onion, raw honey and lemon. Make up at least half to 80 percent of your nutritional intake from raw and you will certainly be on the way to better health and will save yourself some on the supplements. If you eat whole foods and rotate the foods you are almost guaranteed great immunity.

 

There are supplements however; with certain vitamins and elements that can be easier to absorb and recommended because those elements are difficult to absorb from foods. The examples are vitamins such as B12, Calcium or vitamin D.

 

It is important to remember that if your immune system is compromised for whatever reason, if your adrenal health is not at its best then the need for the supplement is obviously increased.

 

So supplements or food?  I say a balance of “Both” - To Your Health!
